We begin with a site evaluation and preparation process, which may include the removal of existing landscape or hardscape material. Because hardscape projects are so physically demanding, heavy equipment may be needed and/or used to transport and position hardscape material in place.
If necessary, we will cut back, prune and/or remove any unwanted existing material. Sometimes existing landscape or hardscape material can be relocated to other areas of your property.
Some grading (sculpting or leveling of land) may be needed to prepare for installation of rocks, stones, pavers, paths, or other hardscape material. Once this process is completed, we will begin installation.
Hardscape Install and Placement
We start installation by preparing your property for the placement of hardscape material. Depending on the configuration of your property some adjustments and/or changes to hardscape material may be necessary once it is set in place in order to accommodate the design. In some case larger features like, a boulder or wall may be moved slightly to make room for an existing structure.
If any excavation is required, we utilize the 811, national call-before-you-dig phone number, prior to digging, cultivating or tilling. We then note the locate of utilities; wires, conductor lines, etc., and mark them accordingly to avoid any damage or disruption in service.
If necessary, we will move, add, or replace exiting sprinklers and irrigation lines to accommodate watering needs for other areas of your property. Another important purpose is to ensure excess water is channeled away from the existing structure to stormwater drains and basins.
Preparation and Installation
Once we have prepared the area, and noted the location of utilities, placement of hardscape material can begin. Depending on the size and scope of your hardscape design, installation can take place over a one-to-three-day period. Your hardscape design specialist will provide you with a detailed timeline of your hardscape installation.
Finishing Touches
Once your new hardscape is installed there are some additional features that will help it really stand out.
Edging provides a defined line between area of your landscape. Edging can be done in several ways. In clay soils, it can be a simple edge cut using a spade. In situations where soil is not as compact, steel, plastic and stone edging will be employed to create clean, defined lines.
Outdoor lighting can also be used to enhance the beauty and features of your hardscape design during the evening. A well-designed lighting scheme is both visually appealing and increases safety and security at night.
